Multnomah Falls

Multnomah Falls is the crown jewel of the Columbia River Gorge and the most visited natural recreation site in the Pacific Northwest, drawing over 2 million visitors annually. This iconic 620-foot waterfall, the tallest in Oregon, is fed by underground springs originating from Larch Mountain, ensuring its flow remains a year-round spectacle. The water cascades in two dramatic tiers, creating a mesmerizing sight thatโ€™s especially powerful during the winter and spring when the flow is at its peak. Visitors can marvel at the falls from the easily accessible viewing area or hike the paved trail to Benson Bridge for an up-close view of the upper and lower cascades. With its stunning beauty and serene surroundings, Multnomah Falls is a must-see destination for nature lovers and adventurers alike.

Fun Facts About Multnomah Falls

Multnomah Falls drops in two tiers, 542 feet then 69 feet, for a total of 620 feet, and it's fed year-round by underground springs rather than seasonal runoff.

The Benson Bridge, the stone footbridge between the two tiers, was built in 1914 and is one of the most photographed structures in Oregon.

It's Oregon's tallest waterfall, and the U.S. Forest Service credits it as the second-tallest year-round waterfall in the country.
