Making Room for Everyone: How Sasquatch Shuttle Is Tackling Multnomah Falls Crowds

As peak season approaches for one of Oregon’s most visited natural attractions, Sasquatch Shuttle is stepping up to help manage the growing demand for access to Multnomah Falls with updated parking options aimed at improving traffic flow and visitor safety.

Beginning this season, Sasquatch Shuttle’s privately owned parking lot adjacent to Multnomah Falls will operate under a new $20 daily parking rate. The change, as shared by co-owner Kent Krumpschmidt in a recent KATU Newssegment, is part of the company’s broader effort to reduce road congestion, enhance emergency vehicle access, and maintain the lot in a sustainable, visitor-friendly way.

“We’re hoping to reduce the congestion, improve emergency vehicle access, and other safety concerns,” said Krumpschmidt. “And then that fee helps us fund that alternate service and the maintenance of the parking lots.”

While the $20 fee applies only to the lot next to the falls, affordable alternatives remain. Sasquatch Shuttle now offers free parking at the Columbia Gorge Premium Outlets in Troutdale, with plenty of space — including ADA-accessible spots — and shuttle access to Multnomah Falls and other scenic stops throughout the Columbia River Gorge for just $5 per person.

“We don’t want people to feel like they have to pay to park at Multnomah Falls,” Krumpschmidt added. “There are alternatives.”

The updates reflect the company’s long-standing mission: to enhance the visitor experience, reduce vehicle backups along the Historic Columbia River Highway, and provide stress-free transportation options throughout the Gorge, including multi-stop waterfall tours along the Historic Columbia River Highway.

Although the change has drawn attention from the U.S. Forest Service, Sasquatch Shuttle maintains that its actions align with a shared goal: promoting sustainable access while preserving the natural beauty of the Gorge. The company continues to work closely with local and federal agencies to ensure alignment with long-term planning and access equity.

With its combination of premium parking, a reliable shuttle system, and a focus on visitor safety, Sasquatch Shuttle is helping make trips to Multnomah Falls more accessible, efficient, and enjoyable—just in time for the busy season ahead.
